Gift Guide: For The Guys – Abigail Nora

I find that guys can be really tricky to buy gifts for. They tend to buy what they need, and when asked what they want, answer with something like, “I don’t know, whatever you want to get me!” or “What you think I’ll like!” Maybe that’s just the guys in my life, though.

Anyway, by popular demand (aka my dad texted me and asked “why no gifts for men?”), I have decided to create a gift guide for the guys as well. You can’t go wrong with picks like ties or a really nice scarf (on super sale!), but I personally am a big fan of giving experiences, like tickets to his favorite team or another activity you can do together. This works especially well for male family members that you don’t necessarily get to see every day… it might not go over as well with a boyfriend if you already spend a bunch of time together.

Still, you can’t go wrong with the classic gifts like watches and shaving kits. Here are my top gift picks for the guys in your life, from the budget-friendly to the splurge-worthy:

1. City Map Glass: Kind of like the dude version of the 42 Pressed Roam city candles I featured in my under $25 gift guide, no?
2. Men’s Minnetonka Suede Moccasin: Slippers are great, and probably not something he’d pick up for himself. If you’re feeling fancy, get him a pair from Ugg — they’re SO COMFY.
3. Bose Soundsport In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones: Perfect for athletes, runners, travelers and guys-on-the-go alike, these are a great way to upgrade his standard earbuds.
4. Men’s Patagonia ‘Better Sweater’ Quarter Zip Pullover: Guys can never have enough sweaters or sweatshirts. If he doesn’t have Patagonia in his collection, go ahead and introduce him to it.
5. ’47 Brand Chicago Blackhawks Franchise Cap: I am a baseball cap snob, which is totally a thing because ’47 makes the best baseball caps, bar none. Everyone is all into “dad hats” or whatever now, but ’47 has been doing it for literal decades. Get him one to rep his favorite team. Or just the Blackhawks, because they are the best. #notbiased #originalsixorbust #exceptdetroit
6. Converse ‘Jack Purcell’ Sneaker: A stylish update to the classic sneakers, everyone from dads to brothers to boyfriends will love this gift option. Just make sure you know his shoe size.
7. Rag & Bone Hampshire Leather Bifold Wallet: Wallets, like sweaters, seem to be something guys always need… especially a super stylish leather version from Rag & Bone.
8. Saint Laurent Wool & Cashmere Scarf: This cashmere blend scarf is on super duper duper sale…meaning he’s going to think you spent a lot more than you did when he opens it. Win win. Grab it while you can, and maybe one for yourself too!
9. Timex ‘Easy Reader’ Leather Strap Watch: A super sleek, monochrome update to a classic gift.
10. The Tie Bar Check Silk Tie: Yeah, yeah, it’s a tie — but it’s a really nice tie at a really great price.
11. The Tie Bar Brass Tie Bar (3-Pack): To go with his new tie, duh.
12. S’well Teakwood 17-oz. Reusable Bottle: Guys appreciate well-designed water bottles just as much as girls do, and the woodgrain finish makes it, I don’t know, manlier or something.
13. Kiehl’s Since 1851 Men’s Starter Kit: Guys also have skin that needs taking care of just like girls do! However, they tend to not be as into it as girls are — yes, I’m totally riding on stereotypes here. Introduce him to the wonderful world of Kiehl’s. He and his skin will thank you for it.
14. Harry’s Men’s One-Two Set – Total Orange: A nice shaving kit, like cologne, is another fail-safe gift. This one is nice enough to be given on its own, but affordable enough to stuff in a stocking.
15. Neff Daily Heathered Beanie: No one’s head likes to be cold. This unisex beanie is great for pretty much anyone on your gift list, actually.
