Madewell recently sent a preview of their spring/summer 2015 collection and it does not disappoint. There are plenty of items I’m adding to my wishlist, but let’s be honest – this is Chicago, even if I pre-ordered them, they’d sit in the back of my closet for months.

You know what you can use from the Madewell preview now, though, no matter which city you live in? Styling tips and tricks pulled straight from the lookbook.

Layer a cropped jacket over your open button-down. A turtleneck or t-shirt would work well now, and switch to a cheeky crop top when the weather warms up.

Did you know that “how to wear a scarf” was one of the most-googled fashion questions of 2014? Here’s a super chic, super easy way for you – drape over your shoulders and go. Boom.

Tie your kimono loosely to show off the shirt underneath. This could also be achieved with a ribbon and a blazer or cardigan, a la Emmanuelle Alt.

Embrace color by going monochrome and wearing different tones of the same family. And there’s that scarf draping again!

Go for a double-blogger-look doozy by both draping your coat over your shoulders and tucking your hair into it.

Kick your denim-on-denim up a notch with embellished details and multiple layers. No need to run out and buy a whole new denim jacket (unless, of course, you have the funds and want to do so – in which case, go for it!). Just snag some patches or pins, like these ones – also from Madewell, and on sale to boot! A Pair & A Spare has a great DIY option if you want to go full embellishment.

Matching separates are still going strong. If you’ve got some already, take them out for a winter spin with tights and a cardigan.

Though this look involves an actual jumpsuit, it could easily be recreated with monochrome separates.

Toughen up your flirty skirts with bomber jackets and sneakers. Again, tights are your friend in the winter!

Layer a button-down over a t-shirt, and tuck both into your bottom. This look is cute with boyfriend jeans, skirts and even certain styles of trousers.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Madewell’s styling?
