Ouai Hair has been on my radar since it debuted earlier this year, and the signal is definitely getting stronger — thanks in part to the brand’s killer social media presence. If you’re unfamiliar, Ouai was launched by stylist Jen Atkin (her clients include the Kardashians) and promises “effortless everyday style” — uh, yeah, I can get behind that. So I finally took the plunge and snagged two products from the line.
Ouai is all about simplifying your routine while helping you achieve cool girl hair/model off duty hair/whatever you want to call it. Also, the branding is on point. So I think the real question is: why did it take me so long to give it a shot?! Who doesn’t want to have “modern, effortless style everyday”?
Well, I know I definitely do, so the Wave Spray and Hair Oil are happy new additions to my bathroom shelf. I’ve been searching for a wave-enhancing spray/product for what seems like forever. I know salt sprays are a thing, but they seem too drying for my coarse hair, and other products didn’t quite hit the spot. I also love the smell and texture of the hair oil. It’s lightweight, gets the job done, and significantly cheaper than the brand I was formerly using.
Yes, I was very tempted to say it’s ouai cheaper than the brand I was formerly using, because I love bad puns. Granted, it’s still $28, so it’s not exactly cheap, but if you’re going to be rubbing oil on your hair, it should probably be high-quality, yes?
The wave spray is definitely one of the line’s buzziest products, which is why it’s one of the first I bought, but apparently people also love the texturizing hair spray. So much so that there are entire articles devoted to its wonders. I think that might just be next on my list of products to try…
One of the biggest draws about Ouai Hair for me is that everything about the brand screams cool girl, but in a way that makes it seem like you can be one too — from the packaging to their Instagram. The website is even full of tutorials and how-tos to really help you get the look, whether “the look” is braids or beach waves. It all feels luxe, but the pricing won’t break the bank, especially compared to some of the high-end haircare brands. So, if you want effortless, model-off-duty hair that actually didn’t take that much effort( or if you just want to be one step closer to actually keeping up with the Kardashians) give Ouai a shot.
