October 27, 2017 // beauty· style
For the most part, I’m pretty loyal to my beauty products. I have a roster of tried-and-trues that I tend to stick to. However, every now and again a new (or at least, new to me) product gets on my radar and piques my interest. Here are a few of my most recent beauty favorites.
Fragrance // Glossier You
I got to smell Glossier’s much-hyped debut fragrance this on two of my coworkers the other day, and can attest that it really does smell different depending on the wearer. Coveteur’s editorial team agrees, too… one editor called it “the fragrance equivalent of not trying too hard,” which is just so damn Glossier.
PS – If you shop through my Glossier Rep page, you get 20% off your first order and free shipping! Also, I will feel cool.
Foundation Cocktail // Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte + Make Up For Ever HD
I love Drunk Elephant’s face sunscreen, but the tinted version is a bit too dark for me. So I mix it with one pump of Make Up For Ever HD foundation to provide a tiny bit more coverage and a much better match. Bonus: the Umbra Tinte has this slightly glowy quality to it, so it looks super natural and like my actual skin. (No obvious foundation here!)
Candle // Maison Louis Marie
Maison Louis Marie candles feel seriously splurge-worthy…but are actually a fraction of the cost of Diptyque, Le Labo, etc. The luxe packaging and branding is also super Instagrammable, which doesn’t hurt at all. My dear friend Lindsey got me No. 09, Vallée de Farney, for my birthday, “a woody, mineral scented candle with notes of grapefruit, orange, black pepper, cedarwood, patchouli, geranium, vetiver, amber, musk and benzoin.” That sounds like a lot going on in one candle, but basically, it’s a fresh, slightly woodsy scent with definite citrus top notes. And it’s amazing.
Sleep // Silk Pillowcase
Um, okay, why the heck did I not invest in one of these sooner. I have super coarse, thick hair so yes, it’s frizzy. All I need for a Ms. Frizzle costume is a dress with planets on it and a Magic School Bus. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase actually does help a lot, though. I’ve still got some frizz (I’m not sure it will ever truly go away without the help of a blowout…), but my hair feels more manageable, shinier and definitely less frizzy than with a cotton pillowcase. I also got a silk eye mask from my sister for Christmas last year, and can’t sleep without it now.
