Last weekend, it was about a billion (okay, 90) degrees in Chicago. I was convinced that, despite the fact it was getting darker earlier and earlier each night, fall was never going to come. But somehow we’d probably go straight from boiling heat to ice and snow.
Luckily, I was wrong. It’s been cooler this week — not quite a chill in the air yet, but enough to wear sweaters and booties and all sorts of fun fall things. Plus, October is just days away, and it’s quite possibly my favorite month of the entire year, for a few reasons:
- It’s Libra season, and while I have quite a few Leo friends, I am entirely biased and think that some of the best people are Libras. My mom’s birthday is just five days after mine. She shares a birthday with Kim K, and I share a birthday with Eminem. If those aren’t two shining examples of great people, well then I just don’t know who is.
- It’s perfectly acceptable to watch cult-classic fall films on repeat, like Rushmore. But a full post coming on that next week!
- Hockey is back. Pre-season doesn’t count.
Oh, and did I mention fall style? Legitimate fall weather always seems so fleeting, between the heat of summer and the freezing cold of winter… but it’s by far the best weather for putting together cute outfits. Fall layers are just so much more interesting than the light and simple clothes of summertime. And winter layers tend to be purely practical and downright puffy. Luckily, there are a handful of golden days in the fall that are just perfect for boots and sweaters and actually-cute coats.
Which brings me to the following list of 10 fall favorites. And bonus: they’re all under $100.
What’s on your fall shopping list? Let me know what your favorite seasonal piece is in the comments!
