Work to Workout: How to Pack The Perfect Gym Bag – A Little Leopard Work to Workout: How to Pack The Perfect Gym Bag – A Little Leopard

Being a modern city gal can involve a lot of schlepping…especially where workouts are concerned. I am a fan of both the boutique fitness scene and exercising after work, which means I am usually schlepping my stuff from home to work to the gym/studio and back again. And, depending on the class, that “stuff” can include anything from a change of clothes to different shoes to a big ol’ yoga mat. I love my Lululemon 5mm mat, but that thing isn’t exactly easy to cart around buses and subways.

That’s why I’ve been trying to streamline what, exactly, I schlep around with me all day, and pack the perfect work-to-gym bag. Here are my essentials:

I swear by my Adidas by Stella McCartney Essential Bag. Clearly, there’s a reason they called it that. It’s GIANT, has a laptop pocket and the chicest subtle leopard print. It’s also my carry-on bag when I travel, and the perfect bag for schlepping. (Seriously, how many times in one post can I say the word “schlepping”?

Then, it’s all about pouches on pouches on pouches. I put my workout clothes inside a small Lululemon shopping bag, which fits inside my larger gym bag. I then have three separate pouches, each serving a different purpose:

My Everyday Makeup Pouch
This is the stuff I always carry with me for touch ups — at the gym or elsewhere. It includes:

+ YSL Touche Eclat
+ Mascara (I swear by L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof)
+ Glossier Boy Brow
+ Liquid eyeliner
+ Pencil eyeliner
+ Mini NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
+ Glossier Haloscope

In a pinch, I could use only the above products to get ready before work, too.

My Gym Bag Beauty Pouch
These are products that are more specific to working out and sweating. They live in their own pouch that I can easily remove from my bag on days I’m not hitting the gym:

+ Face wipes — Neutrogena’s are the BEST EVER. I recently tried the Caffeine Matcha Wake Up Wipes by First Aid Beauty and really like those, too. I just wish they came in a travel size!
+ Deodorant — I can confirm that Lavanila’s natural “Sport Luxe” deodorant smells great and, more importantly, actually works.
+ Mario Badescu Face Spray — I am always, always bright red after class. I don’t know if it’s because I’m Irish or super-pale or both or what, but I bring as many calming products as possible to help mitigate how flushed I get after working out.
+ Pacifica Natural Deodorant Wipes — For freshening up after class. Look, I am very concerned with not smelling bad, okay.

My Hair Gunk Pouch
And last, but certainly not least, the pouch with all my hair stuff in it. Stuff like…

+ Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam (which FINALLY comes in Travel Spray I bought like a dozen)
+ A mini Ouai Wave Spray
+ A mini hair oil — currently this one from Bumble & Bumble
+ A mini styling product — currently IGK Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel
+ Extra hair ties and bobby pins

Of course, I also make sure to throw my reusable water bottle in there, because I get really (irrationally) annoyed at myself when I forget it and have to pay $2 at the studio for water.
