Summer makes me lazy. There, I said it. Hot days just make me want to chill out, there’s always something going on with friends and at the end of the day it’s easy to give in to the exhaustion.
Which is basically why summer is also a great time to check-in on motivation tips and tricks… especially at the beginning of the week. Here are some simple ways to stay on track with your goals and set yourself up for a week of success.
Boost your morning caffeine
Try adding a scoop of collagen to your morning brew, which adds protein while benefitting bone health, skin and hair. I use Vital Proteins, which is based right here in Chicago but easy to find nationwide.
Or, you could forego the coffee altogether for a matcha latte — chock full of antioxidants and as much caffeine as ten cups of green tea. Either way, you’re getting more benefits from your Monday morning caffeine than just energy.
Carve out some time in your Monday to exercise. If getting up early on the first day of the work week is just too much, schedule a favorite fitness class for after work. Even sneaking away from your desk to take a walk at lunchtime is beneficial.
What’s a girlboss workspace without a little inspiration? Pin up a favorite quote or two, or go all out and create a mini vision board specifically for your workspace. It’ll have the added bonus of keeping you laser-focused on your career goals.
Personally, I have Jenna Lyons’s life rules from an old issue of PORTER magazine pinned up at my desk. If you’re searching for inspiration, Pinterest is a great place to start, and I’ve shared many of my favorite quotes in the career section of A Little Leopard.
Make a list
It seems glaringly obvious, but that’s because it’s actually helpful. Make a to-do list of all your necessary tasks for the day to keep yourself accountable and on-track. Don’t just limit yourself to work tasks, either: build in any errands, personal tasks and even “me time” (like that fitness class you scheduled!)
Create a sanctuary
Well, maybe “sanctuary” is the wrong word for whatever desk/cubicle/office situation you have going on at work. But chances are, you spend 40+ hours there per week, so might as well make it somewhere with good vibes, right? Because I’m Addicted has some great ideas to create a wellness oasis at work. Key takeaways: clear the clutter, add inspiration, be smart about what you listen to and stay hydrated. See all the tips here.
