I’m taking a trip to the Bahamas with my dad and sisters this week, so it seemed like the perfect time to do a series of travel-themed posts. I have this thing for travel tips and tricks – especially packing guides, which is evident if you pop over to my “wanderlust” Pinterest board.
The airport is actually one of my favorite parts of the whole travel experience. Weird, I know. Flying itself I’m not so much a fan of, but there’s something about airports (once you get through security lines I mean really) I just love. Blame it on the promise of travel, excitement, new places – or, more likely, the beginning and end scenes of Love Actually. Preach it, Hugh Grant.
As heartwarming as that all is, figuring out just what to wear to the airport can get super-tricky. From chilly planes to figuring out how best to avoid going barefoot in those lovely security lines, airports are fraught with wardrobe dilemmas. Not to mention trips that involve going from one type of weather to another.
I have long been an advocate of comfy-chic at the airport. Going all out doesn’t make sense (nor do heels, generally), but that doesn’t mean you’re allowed to look like a schlob on your flight.
Generally, I find that an outfit incorporating most or all of the following elements works really well for travel:
