JANUARY FAVORITES – A Little Leopard JANUARY FAVORITES – A Little Leopard

February 6, 2017 // Chicago· etc.· life· style

Hey hi hello, it’s February! Yes, the groundhog saw his shadow and the Patriots won the Super Bowl, but I thought it might be nice to look back on what I really loved in the first month of the year. So, without further ado, my January 2017 favorites:

favorites numbered clockwise, left to right

REAL GOOD JUICE CO. SOUTHPORT

Real Good Juice Co. is one of my absolute favorite Chicago juice shops, and they opened a long-awaited Southport location in January. It’s just down the street from the Brown Line Stop and the Southport SoulCycle studio, right by an Anthropologie and a Lululemon… a.k.a. a very bougie couple of blocks that are so dangerous for my wallet.

The Kale E. Kopowski is by far their most popular smoothie, but I love to indulge in a Fly Girl protein smoothie after class, or a Juice Springsteen. Check out more cheekily-named concoctions on the full menu here. The Southport location has food and smoothie bowls, too.

THE HAPPINESS PLANNER

I’d really like to be more mindful in 2017, and I’m using The Happiness Planner to help. It combines a planner with a guided journal to focus on what makes you happy and zero in on your goals, which I think will really help with my “focus on one thing per month” approach to 2017 goals and resolutions. I got the 2017 January-December dated version, but you can also try out a 100-day version any time of year.

OUAI DRY SHAMPOO FOAM

Okay, so I perhaps have a lowkey obsession with Jen Atkin’s haircare line, Ouai. But it lives. up. to. the. hype. Especially the wave spray. Anyway, I have very coarse, dry hair, so many traditional aerosol or powder dry shampoos just sit on my scalp and don’t really do what they’re supposed to, so I have been searching for an alternate formula for literally years. That’s why I was over the moon when Ouai announced their dry shampoo foam and ordered it the day it launched. It’s a mousse-like texture that refreshes my hair without adding to the buildup, and, like the rest of Jen Atkin’s line, smells absolutely amazing. Love love love, 10/10 would recommend.

CHUNKY, OVERSIZED SWEATERS

Because it’s winter in Chicago. I wrote a whole post on this, but between a note and a giftcard, I snagged some amazing new chunky knits from Nordstrom, including the one pictured above and a couple chic Topshop pieces.

GATHER HOME AND LIFESTYLE

Or, more specifically, Sundays spent in Wicker Park brunching (at places like Publican Anker) and shopping (at places like Gather Home and Lifestyle). My friend Stephanie and I did this recently on a three-day weekend in January, and despite the frigid temps, it was lovely.

ALO GODDESS LEGGINGS

My new favorite leggings for practicing yoga, thanks to the long ribbed detail that can be worn scrunched over your ankles or pulled over your heels and feet. They look like you’re wearing legwarmers over your leggings, but it’s all one piece! I wore them to yoga with my friend Kira recently and highly recommend for sweaty C2 sessions.

BONUS FAVORITE: POPSUGAR MUST HAVE BOX

Do you guys do subscription boxes at all? POPSUGAR sent me this Must Have Box to try, and I have to say, I’m loving January’s selection, like Dean & Deluca peppermint tea in the chicest tin. My favorite might be the Manduka eQua hot yoga towel, which I use all the time in class now. Check out the #MustHaveBox for yourself here, and save $5 off your first box with the exclusive code SHOP5.
