Winter has finally hit Chicago. The other day I checked my phone before going outside and the temperature was 1 degree. One. single. degree. I’m sorry, but on days like that I’d really rather not leave the house, much less get dressed up to go out and about.
In fact, it’s the perfect season for the very literal sense of Netflix and chill — as in actually chilling on your couch and watching lots and lots of movies. When the world outside is cold and grey, film offers the perfect escape. Especially ones that look really pretty. Here are some of my favorite stylish movies to watch on Netflix and curl up with during the winter:
Clueless
I will forever be indebted to this movie for introducing me to Alaia, “like a totally important designer.” I don’t even need to mention the fabulous computerized closet, do I? And also, of course, Paul Rudd.
Available on: Netflix
Iris
I only hope to be half as sharp and stylish as Iris by the time I am her age.
Available on: Netflix
How to Marry a Millionaire
Everything about this movie is to die for, from the apartment to the dresses. Yes, Marilyn Monroe is in it — come for her, but stay for Lauren Bacall, who is an absolute gem and my favorite.
Available on: Netflix
A Single Man
Two words: Tom Ford.

Velvet Goldmine
Director Todd Haynes was inspired by the life of David Bowie for this film, which stars a baby Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor in leather pants.
Available on: Netflix
Annie Hall
Diane Keaton is the definition of tomboy chic, and I believe she wore many of her own clothes as the titular character, making it that much cooler.
Available on: HBO Go
What If
If Toronto is anything like it’s portrayed in this adorable rom-com starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan and Adam Driver, I would like to move there ASAP.
Available on: Showtime Anytime
Any Wes Anderson film
Self explanatory, right? The Royal Tenebaums is his most well known for a reason (and my personal favorite!) but any of his films are worth a watch.
Available on: Netflix (Moonrise Kingdom)
