Was that the longest week ever, or the longest week ever? I feel like it’s been months since I’ve seen a weekend, so TGI-holiday-weekend-Friday, indeed. Here are five things to kick it off:
Emily Current + Merritt Elliott (of Current/Elliott and PBTeen’s coolest ever collaboration Emily + Merritt) started a lifestyle site and I am all about it, particularly the decorate like you dress series. What a fabulous idea.
One of my favorite movies, The Devil Wears Prada, will be ten (!!) years old this year. To celebrate, Man Repeller rounded up ten weird things about it. Fun fact that’s not on the list: it was Emily Blunt’s choice to give her character (also named Emily) a “stern British accent.” And thus, my life goals were born.
So I totally understand the appeal of monthly subscription boxes after POPSUGAR sent me this Must Have Box to try. It’s packed with summer essentials, many of which I wouldn’t have purchased on my own but I’m so glad to have now. My favorite might actually be the Pacifica deodorant wipes, which are on heavy rotation in my gym bag and the item I am most likely to restock.
Love love love this free typography art from Homey Oh My. Print it on some nice paper, grab a frame and you’ve got some super affordable, perfectly minimal art for your desk or home. You could even do a few in a row and spell a favorite word!
Finally, and perhaps most excitingly, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is right around the corner. It’s literally like Christmas in July, because unlike other sales, new stuff is discounted. It starts on July 22, and prices go up August 8, but Nordstrom cardholders get early access as soon as July 14. Nordstrom even has a debit card option for those of you who are (rightfully) wary of store credit…so what are you waiting for? You get a $20 Nordstrom note when you sign up (perfect for the sale!) and early access, which is wonderful because things will sell out. Peek at the catalog here and start preparing now. It’s kind of like the shopping hunger games. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Bonus Harry Potter fan item: J.K. Rowling released a pretty wonderful backstory for the American wizarding school, Ilvermorny, and a sorting quiz to go with it! What’s more patriotic than figuring out your America-wizard house this Fourth of July? Nothing, that’s what. U. S. A!
