Gift of the Day: Curate Chicago – A Little Leopard

I think part of the reason I love gift giving so much (and have a horrible habit of overspending) is a little bit selfish. Yes, I love to surprise and delight people, but I’m also kind of proving to them that I have awesome taste. This is probably also the reason I tend to overspend on pretty gift wrap, too – looking at you, Sugar Paper for Target.

Well, awesome new (local!) company Curate Chicago has the great-taste, fabulous-wrapping thing down pat, in one easy, beautifully bow-tied package.

I discovered the brand after they were featured on The Chicago Chic earlier this week and I’m mildly obsessed. Co-founders and husband and wife team Christina and Marco combined their love for modern art, endlessly chic aesthetic, keen eye and buying/business background to curate a collection of amazing gift boxes for pretty much any occasion. Plus, many of the items in the boxes are from brands and businesses right here in Chicago – proving that art, style and culture are by no means exclusive to the coasts.

“The city is our inspiration through its architecture (think Mies, Sullivan, and Burnham), artists, makers, museums, food scene, and people,” according to Curate Chicago. “We seek to represent our city by featuring products made by Chicago artisans, many of which you can find in our mainstay “Chicago-themed” box.”

The boxes are on the pricier side, with the cheapest starting at $65, but super elevated and thoughtful. You’ll pretty much wow whoever gets one, whether it’s one of the curated collections or a build-your-own option in their (to-die-for!) packaging. Seriously, the Jackson Pollock-inspired gold foil box would probably be gift enough for me.

It’s ground shipping only, so move quickly if you want to spoil anyone for Christmas with one of these gorgeous boxes!
